How do I create a DOOR account and download the DOOR App?

Residents cannot create a DOOR account on their own — your property management team creates it for you. Once they do, you receive a "Welcome to DOOR" email with a link to set your password. After that, download the DOOR App, sign in, and your access appears automatically. The DOOR App has no sign-up option because of this; attempting to find one means your property team hasn't invited you yet.

This article covers the new-resident flow, what to do if you're migrating from Latch, how to download the app, and the phones DOOR supports.

If you're migrating from Latch

If you already have a Latch account, you do not need to create a new DOOR account or reset your password. Download the DOOR App and sign in with the same email and password you used for the Latch app — your access carries over. If you've forgotten the password, see How do I reset my DOOR password or fix login issues?.

How do I get a DOOR account?

Your property management team creates the account using the email address you provided them. They send an invitation to that email — typically titled "Welcome to DOOR" — with a link to finish setup.

Only property management can create resident accounts and grant access. DOOR Support cannot create accounts for you. If you should have an account and do not, contact your property team directly.

How do I finish setup after I get the invitation?

  1. Open the "Welcome to DOOR" email and tap the setup link.
  2. Set a password that meets the DOOR password requirements:
    • At least 12 characters (up to 1024).
    • At least one uppercase letter.
    • At least one number.
    • At least one symbol.
  3. Once the password saves, you'll be directed to download the DOOR App if you haven't yet.

If you don't see the setup email, check your spam folder and see I'm not receiving DOOR emails for the full checklist.

How do I download the DOOR App?

Download the app from your phone's app store:

After installing:

  1. Open the DOOR App and sign in with the email and password you just set.
  2. Enable Bluetooth and Location services for your phone, and grant the DOOR App permission to use both. Without these, the app cannot unlock doors. Bluetooth is required for unlock; Location is required by the operating system for Bluetooth access at a door.

Your assigned doors appear in the Access tab once sign-in completes.

What phones are supported?

If you cannot find the DOOR App in your phone's app store, your phone may not meet the minimum OS requirements.

  • iOS: iOS 16 or later. Refer to Apple's supported iPhone models to check compatibility.
  • Android: Android 8 or later. DOOR works on many Android models; Samsung flagship models and Google Pixel devices are the most reliably tested.

If your phone is below these versions, update the operating system if possible, or use another device that meets the requirements.

I don't have an invitation email — what now?

  • You received an invitation recently but can't find it — check your spam folder, corporate firewall, and inbox storage. See I'm not receiving DOOR emails.
  • You never received an invitation — contact your property management team. They need to invite you to DOOR from their end. Only they can create a resident account; DOOR Support cannot.
  • Your invitation link expired — reset your password from the DOOR App Log In screen. Tap Forgot password, enter your registered email, and you'll receive a new link. See How do I reset my DOOR password or fix login issues?.
