DOOR Dimmer Switch operation

You control the DOOR Dimmer Switch from the wall buttons or the DOOR App. This article covers turning the light on and off, dimming, setting schedules and a timer, smoothing transitions with gentle on/off, and fixing flicker with dimming calibration. The Dimmer reports to the app through the DOOR Hub, but its on/off, dimming, schedules, and timer run locally — so the wall switch keeps working even when the app can't reach it.

About this feature

In the DOOR App, the Dimmer appears under Devices → Controls, listed under its Unit. Tapping it opens a dashboard with an on/off toggle and a brightness slider, plus schedules and connection status. On the switch itself, two buttons control brightness.

Turning the light on and off, and dimming

  • At the switch: press to turn on or off. Use the brightness increase/decrease buttons — a short press steps the level (20% → 40% → 60% → 80% → 100%), and a long press fine-tunes by 1%.
  • In the app: use the toggle to turn the light on or off, and the brightness slider to set the level.

The Brightness LEDs on the switch show the current level; the Status LED is green when the light is on and red when off.

Setting a schedule

The Dimmer supports up to 6 schedules that run on the device (no internet required).

  1. Open the Dimmer in Devices → Controls (under its Unit) → Schedules.
  2. Add periods for the days and times you want, and save.

Setting a one-time timer

Under Settings → Timer, set a single-use countdown to turn on or turn off the light once. Like schedules, the timer runs on the device.

Gentle on and off

Under Settings, set Gentle ON (0–20 seconds) to fade the light up slowly, and Gentle OFF to fade it down — useful for waking up or winding down without an abrupt change.

Fixing flicker — dimming calibration

If the light flickers at low brightness, use Settings → Dimming calibration. Gradually dim the light up and down to find the lowest level that doesn't flicker; the Dimmer uses that as its minimum.

Turning off the indicator lights

Under Settings, you can disable the Status LED (so it doesn't glow when the light is on) and the Brightness LED indicator, if you'd prefer the switch stay dark.

Viewing history

Under History, the Record Log shows when the light was turned on or off and the connection status over time.

If it didn't work

  • App changes don't take effect — confirm the Dimmer shows Online; if it's offline, use the wall switch until the Hub reconnects.
  • The light flickers — run Dimming calibration, and confirm the bulb is dimmable and within the load limits.
