Latch C2 operation — unlocking, locking, and LED indicators

How unlocking works

The Latch C2 is not motorized. Presenting a valid credential does not move the deadbolt — it engages the exterior thumbturn for 10 seconds, during which the resident physically turns it to retract the deadbolt and open the door.

After those 10 seconds, the exterior thumbturn disengages and no longer moves the deadbolt, keeping the door secure.

Unlocking from outside

Via DOOR app (Bluetooth) Open the DOOR app → tap the door → tap Unlock. The exterior thumbturn engages for 10 seconds. Turn it away from the door frame to retract the deadbolt.

Via doorcode Wake the Lens by tapping any key → enter the numeric doorcode → press the checkmark key. On a correct code, the Lens LEDs spin in a circle and the exterior thumbturn engages for 10 seconds.

Via Latch Keycard Tap the Keycard flat against the Lens. On a valid read, the exterior thumbturn engages for 10 seconds.

Locking from outside

Present any valid credential → the exterior thumbturn engages for 10 seconds → turn it toward the door frame to extend the deadbolt.

From inside

The interior thumbturn is always free. Turn it in either direction at any time to lock or unlock — no credential required.

There is no auto-lock on the Latch C2.

Latch Lens LED indicators

The Lens has white LEDs that display the digits entered during a doorcode attempt. There are no color indicators and no other LED patterns.

When entering a doorcode LED behavior
Correct code The digit LEDs spin in a circle
Incorrect code The digit LEDs blink

There is no LED feedback for app or Keycard unlocks.

Keeping credentials up to date — Door Sync

Because the Latch C2 does not connect to WiFi, credential changes made in DOOR OS (new keys, schedule changes, revoked access) do not reach the device automatically. Residents must perform a Door Sync from the DOOR app while within Bluetooth range of the device. Firmware upgrades are delivered the same way.

Battery

The Latch C2 runs on 6 AA alkaline batteries. The electronics (Bluetooth radio, NFC, Lens) consume the battery — the deadbolt itself requires no power to move. DOOR OS shows the last reported battery level. Replace batteries before they are fully depleted.

Emergency access when batteries are dead: Hold a Qi-compatible wireless charger against the device to provide enough power to enable the 10-second thumbturn window. Open the DOOR app, unlock, then turn the thumbturn to retract the deadbolt. Replace the batteries immediately.
