The Latch C2 physical installation is performed by a qualified technician using the installation guide included in the box. This article covers what to verify before the technician arrives, how to activate the device in DOOR OS after installation, and what to confirm once the unit is live.
Before installation — confirm door compatibility
Have the technician verify the following before removing the existing deadbolt:
- Door thickness: 1-3/8" or 1-3/4" — field configurable; the correct mounting screws ship in the box
- Backset: 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" — field configurable; use the cutsheet included in the box to measure
- Door preparation: 5-1/2" center to center with a 1" crossbore
- Door fit: the door must be properly hung and close flush — door alignment is important for smooth deadbolt operation
If any of these are out of spec, installation cannot proceed until the door condition is corrected.
Physical installation
The Latch C2 installation guide (included in the box) covers all physical steps with diagrams:
- Preparing the deadbolt body for the correct backset
- Selecting the correct mounting hardware for door thickness
- Assembling the exterior trim, interior battery tray, and deadbolt
- Testing deadbolt alignment manually before inserting batteries
Use hand tools only — power tools can damage the device. Overtightening the device even with hand tools can cause damage or stiffness in the deadbolt and thumbturn.
Activating the device
Activation has two parts: the door must exist in DOOR OS, and the physical device is activated from the DOOR app.
1. Confirm the door exists in DOOR OS Log in to DOOR OS → Access → Doors → confirm the door where the Latch C2 was installed is listed. If not, create it before proceeding.
2. Activate the device from the DOOR app
- Open the DOOR app → go to the Devices tab
- Tap Add a device
- Scan the QR code on the device or enter the serial number manually
- Follow the on-screen flow to complete activation
- Confirm the device appears as activated in DOOR OS → Access → Doors → door
After installation — verify
Before shutting the door test the following:
- App unlock: use the DOOR app to present a credential — the exterior thumbturn should engage for 10 seconds. Turn it to retract the deadbolt and confirm entry
- Doorcode: enter a doorcode assigned to the door in DOOR OS — the Lens LEDs should spin in a circle and the exterior thumbturn should engage
- Latch Keycard: test a Keycard tap if Keycards are in use at this property
- Interior thumbturn: confirm it turns freely in both directions at all times
- Door Sync: perform a Door Sync from the DOOR app to confirm credentials are current on the device
If the thumbturn is difficult to turn, check door alignment — the deadbolt bore and strike plate should be cleanly aligned.
