Latch Lens LED indicators
The Latch Lens (the exterior keypad) has white LEDs that display the digits entered during a doorcode attempt. There are no color indicators and no other LED patterns beyond the doorcode feedback below.
| When entering a doorcode | LED behavior |
|---|---|
| Correct code | The digit LEDs spin in a circle |
| Incorrect code | The digit LEDs blink |
Unlocking
Via DOOR app (Bluetooth)
Open the DOOR app → tap the door → tap Unlock. Requires Bluetooth; works within range of the device. There is no LED confirmation for app unlock — the deadbolt retracts when the command is received.
Via doorcode
Wake the Lens by tapping any key → enter the numeric doorcode → press the checkmark key. If the code is correct, the LEDs spin in a circle and the deadbolt retracts.
Via physical key
The Latch C1 includes a key cylinder. Insert the physical key and turn to lock or unlock — this works at any time, independent of the app, doorcodes, or battery level.
Locking
To lock from outside the door, touch the center of the Lens with a finger — the deadbolt extends. The interior thumbturn can also be used to lock or unlock manually at any time.
There is no auto-lock on the Latch C1.
Jam detection and anti-jam routine
If the deadbolt cannot fully extend — typically because the door is not completely closed, there is frame misalignment, or weather stripping is creating resistance — the Latch C1 performs an anti-jam routine:
- The deadbolt retracts
- The device re-attempts to extend the deadbolt up to three times
- If locking succeeds, the deadbolt remains extended
- If locking fails after three attempts, the deadbolt stays retracted
If the deadbolt won't stay extended:
- Pull the door firmly closed and try locking again by touching the Lens center
- If the door closes correctly but locking still fails, check that nothing is blocking the deadbolt path (strike plate alignment, door frame)
- See Latch C1 troubleshooting if the issue persists
Keeping credentials up to date — Door Sync
Because the Latch C1 does not connect to WiFi, access credential changes made in DOOR OS (new keys, modified schedules, revoked access) do not reach the device automatically. Residents must perform a Door Sync from the DOOR app while within Bluetooth range of the device to update it.
Firmware upgrades are also delivered via the DOOR app during a sync.
Battery
The Latch C1 runs on 4 AA batteries. DOOR OS shows the last reported battery level for the device. Replace batteries before they are fully depleted — a device with dead batteries cannot unlock or lock until batteries are replaced.
See Changing the batteries in your Latch device for step-by-step instructions.
