Latch C1 overview

The Latch C1 is a motorized smart deadbolt for residential apartment unit doors. It replaces an existing deadbolt and gives residents keyless access via the DOOR app over Bluetooth, or a numeric doorcode entered on the Latch Lens. The “C” refers to the deadbolt form factor — the device works only on doors with a standard deadbolt cutout.

The Latch C1 is a fully offline device. It does not connect to WiFi. All credential updates and firmware upgrades are delivered via Door Sync through the DOOR app.

Access methods

  • DOOR app: unlock via Bluetooth while within range of the device
  • Doorcode: numeric code entered on the Latch Lens (the exterior keypad)
  • Physical key: the Latch C1 includes a key cylinder — a standard physical key can be used to lock or unlock the deadbolt at any time, independent of the app or batteries

Locking

To lock from outside the door, touch the center of the Lens — the deadbolt extends. The interior thumbturn can also be used to lock or unlock manually at any time.

Connectivity

The Latch C1 connects to residents' phones via Bluetooth. It does not connect to WiFi or any network infrastructure. All access credential updates reach the device through Door Syncs performed from the DOOR app while within Bluetooth range. Firmware upgrades are delivered the same way.

What DOOR OS shows

DOOR OS displays whether the Latch C1 is activated and its last reported battery level. There is no real-time online/offline status — the device operates independently of any network connection.

Power

The Latch C1 runs on 4 AA batteries. Battery life varies with usage. Low battery is visible in DOOR OS as the last reported battery reading. Replace batteries before they are fully depleted to avoid a lockout.

Door compatibility

The Latch C1 is compatible with:

  • Door thickness: 1-3/8" or 1-3/4"
  • Backset: 2-3/8" or 2-3/4"
  • Bore hole: Ø 2-1/8" (standard deadbolt bore)
  • Single-cylinder deadbolt position (not lever, not knob)

The door must be plumb and close flush — the Latch C1 has an anti-jam routine but works best with a properly fitted door.

What Latch C1 is not

  • Not a lever-style lock — for lever door positions, see Latch M, M2, or M3
  • Not a commercial-grade device — for commercial entry or high-traffic doors, see Latch R Device
  • Does not control a door latch, only the deadbolt
  • Does not connect to WiFi or any network
  • Does not include video or intercom capability — for visitor management, pair a DOOR Link or Latch Intercom at the building entry

The Latch C2, by contrast, does not include a key cylinder and cannot be unlocked manually with a physical key.
