Installing Latch C1

The Latch C1 physical installation is performed by a qualified technician using the installation guide included in the box. This article covers what to verify before the technician arrives, how to activate the device in DOOR OS after installation, and what to confirm once the unit is live.

Before installation — confirm door compatibility

Have the technician verify the following before removing the existing deadbolt:

  • Door thickness: 1-3/8" or 1-3/4" — the correct mounting screws ship in the box for each thickness
  • Backset: 2-3/8" (backset B) or 2-3/4" (backset A) — use the cutsheet included in the box to measure; the deadbolt body must be extended or retracted accordingly
  • Bore hole: Ø 2-1/8" standard deadbolt bore
  • Door position: Latch C1 is a deadbolt-only device — it occupies the deadbolt bore, not the lever or knob position
  • Door fit: the door must close flush without resistance — the Latch C1 has an anti-jam routine but works best when the mechanical fit is clean

If any of these are out of spec, installation cannot proceed until the door condition is corrected.

Physical installation

The Latch C1 installation guide (included in the box and available from your DOOR sales rep) covers all physical steps with diagrams:

  • Preparing the deadbolt latch body (extending or retracting based on backset)
  • Selecting the correct mounting screws for door thickness
  • Assembling the outer trim, inner control module, and mounting plate
  • Running the deadbolt alignment test before inserting batteries

Do not insert batteries before completing the mechanical test. The device performs a self-calibration on first power-on; a misaligned deadbolt can cause calibration errors.

Activating in DOOR OS

After physical installation is complete and batteries are inserted:

  1. Log in to DOOR OS → AccessDoors
  2. Find the door where the Latch C1 was installed
  3. Click EditDevicesAdd Device → select Latch C1
  4. Follow the on-screen pairing flow — keep a phone with the DOOR app open within Bluetooth range during activation
  5. Confirm the device appears as activated in the Doors view

After installation — verify

Before closing out the installation:

  • App unlock: test with the DOOR app — the device should unlock via Bluetooth while within range
  • Doorcode: enter a doorcode assigned to the door in DOOR OS — the Lens LEDs should spin in a circle on success
  • Locking: touch the center of the Lens — the deadbolt should extend smoothly
  • Deadbolt operation: manually extend and retract the deadbolt via the interior thumbturn — it should move with no binding or unusual resistance
  • Door Sync: perform a Door Sync from the DOOR app to confirm credentials are current on the device
  • Physical key: confirm the physical key (included in the box) is handed off to the property team — the Latch C1 includes a key cylinder that works independently of the app and batteries

If the deadbolt sticks or requires force, check door alignment before reporting a device fault. Most resistance issues are mechanical and are resolved by adjusting the door, not replacing the lock.
