DOOR Link overview

DOOR Link is a virtual intercom — a passive panel containing a QR code that gives visitors a way to reach residents without a physical intercom unit. When a visitor scans the QR code, their phone opens a DOOR web page showing a directory of units and residents. The visitor selects a resident and places a call via the DOOR app. During the call, the resident can generate a daily doorcode that appears on the visitor's screen; the visitor then enters that code on the Latch lock to gain entry.

DOOR Link has no electronics, no power, and no wireless connectivity. It is a mounting panel — all logic runs in DOOR's software.

What DOOR Link is for

DOOR Link is suited for entry points where a full Latch Intercom is not needed or practical:

  • Package rooms and delivery areas
  • Amenity spaces (gym, rooftop, pool, bike room)
  • Common entry doors where visitors need to reach a resident
  • Secondary building entrances and gates

For unit-level access, use a Latch smart lock (Latch C, M, M2, or M3 depending on door type). DOOR Link is an entry-point solution, not a unit-door solution.

How it works

  1. A visitor scans the QR code with any phone camera — no app required on the visitor's side
  2. The visitor's phone opens a DOOR web page with a directory of units and residents
  3. The visitor selects a resident and places a call via the DOOR app
  4. The resident receives the call in their DOOR app and can choose to generate a daily doorcode
  5. The daily doorcode appears on the visitor's screen
  6. The visitor enters the code on the Latch lock at that entry point to unlock the door

How DOOR Link compares to Latch Intercom

DOOR Link and Latch Intercom serve the same purpose — connecting visitors to residents at a building entry — but DOOR Link is fully virtual:

DOOR LinkLatch Intercom
HardwareQR code panel onlyPhysical intercom unit with screen and audio
Visitor interactionWeb page on visitor's phoneScreen on the device
Call methodDOOR app callDOOR app call / Phone call
Entry methodDaily doorcodeRemote unlock
Directory requirementsSame as Latch IntercomKey access, unit assignment
Power / wiringNoneRequired

Because the visitor experience happens entirely on their phone, DOOR Link requires no wiring and works anywhere a QR sticker can be mounted.

Directory requirements

For a resident to appear in the DOOR Link directory, the same conditions apply as for the Latch Intercom:

  • The resident is assigned to a unit in the property
  • The resident has key access to the door paired with the DOOR Link
  • The resident has Show in intercom enabled in their account settings

What DOOR Link does not do

  • It does not directly trigger a lock — the resident generates a doorcode, which the visitor enters manually
  • It does not work with non-DOOR app residents (no DOOR app = no directory entry)
  • It does not have a camera or video capability
  • No replacement parts are sold individually; a damaged unit must be replaced in full (contact your DOOR sales rep)
