How do I delete my DOOR data or request a copy?

You can request deletion of your DOOR data — including your account, profile, and access records — or request a copy of your personal information. Both requests require approval from your property management team, because DOOR processes access data on their behalf: they are the data controller for your building, and DOOR is the service provider. You start the request in the DOOR App or by email, DOOR verifies your identity, and your property team approves or denies it.

This article covers how to submit each request, what happens after you submit, and where special cases (legal records, safety concerns, Canadian residents) apply. If you want to remove your account, close your profile, or delete your access history, start here.

How do I request deletion of my DOOR data?

You have two ways to submit a deletion request:

From the DOOR App. On the Home screen, tap the profile icon in the top right corner, tap My Profile, then tap Delete Profile. This sends a deletion request to DOOR Support.

By email. Send a deletion request to support@door.com from your DOOR-associated email address.

Note: When your deletion request is processed, both your DOOR account and your building access are removed.

After you submit the request, DOOR sends a verification code to your DOOR-associated email to confirm your identity. DOOR then contacts your property management team for approval:

  • If your property team approves, DOOR processes the deletion.
  • If your property team denies, DOOR will refer you to your property team to discuss their data policies or the reason for the denial.

DOOR Support cannot delete your data without property-team approval. This is because your property team is the data controller for your unit access under their privacy policy.

How do I request a copy of my data?

DOOR generally does not provide copies of access event data outside of what you can see in the Access tab of the DOOR App. Because DOOR acts as the service provider for your property team, any request for a data copy must be authorized by your property management team.

If you live in a US state with a consumer data-access law — California, Colorado, Virginia, Utah, Connecticut, and others — you may have a statutory right to request your data. Submit the request to your property manager or building owner. If they direct DOOR to fulfill the request, DOOR verifies your identity and emails the data to your DOOR-associated email address.

If you do not live in a state with a statutory data-access right, you can still contact your property manager directly and ask for your data; they can choose to act on the request at their discretion. You can also view your access logs at any time in the Access tab of the DOOR App.

Retention: DOOR retains access data for 90 days at New York City properties and 2 years at properties elsewhere, then depersonalizes it per the retention schedule.

If you are a resident at a private unit door, DOOR does not share your unit access data with your property manager by default. They receive it only when you or they initiate a data-access request under a valid legal basis.

What if I'm a Canadian resident?

If you live in Canada, you are entitled to access the personal information DOOR has collected, used, or disclosed about you. Submit your request from the DOOR App or email support@door.com. DOOR verifies your identity and responds within 30 days, or notifies you if additional time is needed.

What if my request is for a subpoena or legal process?

Send requests tied to a subpoena, court order, or other legal process to legal@door.com and cc support@door.com. Do not submit legal-records requests through the in-app deletion flow.

What if I have a safety or security concern?

If you have safety or security concerns that require investigation of access activity at your private unit door, email support@door.com or call 1-877-890-2221 (East Coast business hours). Include your name, your DOOR-associated email, a description of the concern, why the access history in the DOOR App is not sufficient, and the specific data you need. DOOR will involve your property management team as needed.

Note: DOOR strives to capture every access event, but in limited cases some access log data may be missing due to operational issues with the hardware.
