The DOOR App combines resident features and the property-manager features that used to live in the Latch Manager App. When you sign in as a property manager, the Devices section shows additional flows for activating, configuring, and maintaining hardware in the field. This article describes what you can do from the manager view of the DOOR App and when to use it.
About this feature
Property managers see the same DOOR App as residents, plus a manager-only Devices section in the bottom navigation. Inside Devices you'll find:
- Doors tab — locks, intercoms, and cameras at your property.
- Controls tab — DOOR Smart Home devices (Hub, sensors, thermostats, dimmers).
- Add a Device button — start activation flows for a new lock, intercom, camera, or smart home device.
Manager-only flows in the DOOR App are useful for on-site work — walkthroughs, installations, firmware upgrades, swapping batteries — where you have physical access to a device.
Before you start
- You're signed in to the DOOR App with a property-manager account that has Device Management Permissions for the property. See Key and device management permissions by role.
- For activation flows, your account also needs the Activate/Deactivate permission turned on.
- You're physically at the property, within Bluetooth range (~3 meters) of the device you want to manage.
Steps — Open the manager Devices view
- Open the DOOR App and sign in.
- If you manage more than one property, tap the building name at the top of the home screen and select the right property.
- Tap Devices in the bottom navigation bar.
- Choose the Doors tab for locks, intercoms, and cameras, or the Controls tab for DOOR Smart Home devices.
Steps — Activate a new lock, intercom, or camera
- In the Devices section, tap Add a Device.
- Pick the device type and follow the activation prompts. The exact flow varies by device — see Activating devices with the DOOR App for general activation, Activating the Latch Intercom, and Activating a Latch Camera for device-specific flows.
Steps — Upgrade firmware on a property device
- In Devices, tap the Doors tab.
- Tap the door you want to upgrade.
- Tap Upgrade firmware and follow the prompts. See How do I upgrade firmware on a property device? for the full flow.
Steps — Perform a Door Sync, view battery, or check status
- Tap the Doors tab.
- Tap the door you need to inspect.
- The door detail view shows current firmware version, battery level, and last sync time. Tap Sync to push pending access updates to the lock.
Steps — Install or manage Smart Home devices
- Tap Add a Device in the Devices section to start a new Smart Home installation. See Installing DOOR Smart Home devices.
- To manage existing Smart Home devices, tap the Controls tab, select a unit, and tap the device.
- From the device dashboard you can view history, edit device settings, and deactivate the device.
If it didn't work
- You don't see the Devices section — your account may not have Device Management Permissions. A Portfolio Manager has to grant them.
- Add a Device option is missing — your account has Device Management but not the Activate/Deactivate toggle. Ask a Portfolio Manager to enable it.
- Bluetooth doesn't connect to the device — confirm Bluetooth is on and the DOOR App has Bluetooth permission. Move closer to the device (within 3 meters) and try again.
