Most DOOR-enabled unit doors lock automatically after a few seconds after you close them. This article covers how locking works for each device type and what to do if your door doesn't auto-lock.
About this feature
DOOR devices are designed so that you don't have to think about locking. For most Latch devices, closing the door is all it takes — the lock engages automatically after a short delay.
For Latch C, locking is manual and takes one tap.
How locking works by device
Latch C
Latch C does not auto-lock. To lock the door, tap the center of the black Latch Lens. The lock engages immediately.
Latch C2
Latch C2 does not auto-lock. To lock the door from inside, turn the thumb turn toward the door frame. From outside, the door locks when you pull it closed (the latch bolt re-engages).
Latch M, Latch M2, and Latch M3
These devices auto-lock 10 seconds after unlocking. Close the door and it locks on its own — no action required.
Latch M (G-M)
Same as Latch M: auto-locks 10 seconds after unlocking.
Latch R
Latch R auto-locks after 5 or 10 seconds, depending on how your property has configured it. No action required.
eGenius
eGenius auto-locks 10 seconds after unlocking. To engage the deadbolt for additional security, pull up on the handle after the door is closed.
If your door does not auto-lock
Contact your property management team. The auto-lock delay is a property-level setting. If the device is not locking at all, the property team can check whether the setting is configured correctly.
