What is ePMS and how does it work with DOOR?

ePMS (electronic Property Management System integration) is DOOR's connection between your existing PMS — Yardi, RealPage, Entrata, AppFolio — and DOOR OS. It pulls resident and unit data automatically so you don't have to enter the same information in two places. This article explains what ePMS is, what data syncs, which platforms are supported, when ePMS is the right choice, and how long setup takes.

What is ePMS?

ePMS is a one-way data feed: your PMS is the source of truth, and DOOR OS keeps itself in sync with what your PMS already has. Specifically, ePMS pulls resident profiles, lease dates, and unit assignments from your PMS hourly into DOOR OS.

The result: when you onboard a new resident in your PMS, DOOR OS automatically reflects the addition within an hour. Same for move-outs, lease extensions, and unit reassignments — there's no double entry.

What does ePMS sync?

Data Synced from PMS
Full name Yes
Email address Yes
Mobile number Yes
Lease start and end dates Yes
Move-in and move-out dates Yes
Unit assignment Yes (via Unit Sync — see Unit Sync — setup and behavior)
Door access (Keys) No — Keys are still configured in DOOR OS
Doorcodes No — generated by DOOR

Note: Deleting a contact from your PMS does not automatically delete the contact from DOOR OS. Move-out events end the resident's access via the lease-end date, but the DOOR account stays for audit purposes.

How often does ePMS sync?

The ePMS data feed runs hourly. You can also trigger a manual sync on the People page in DOOR OS if you need an update sooner.

Which PMS platforms are supported?

Platform Status
RealPage Supported (request integration via RealPage marketplace)
Yardi Supported (Voyager 7)
Entrata Supported
AppFolio Supported (via AppFolio Stack™ Premium)

For setup details per platform, see Setting up ePMS in DOOR OS.

Do I need ePMS?

ePMS is optional. Whether to set it up depends on how you onboard residents:

  • You manually invite each resident in DOOR OS — ePMS is not required, but it eliminates double entry. Most properties with 50+ units benefit.
  • You onboard residents in bulk via CSV — ePMS replaces that flow with continuous automatic sync. Worth setting up.
  • You're a small property (10–20 units) with low turnover — ePMS may not be worth the setup effort. Manual invites or CSV imports work fine.

Is ePMS secure?

Yes. Data from your PMS is transferred over an encrypted server. DOOR is also pursuing SOC II accreditation. For data privacy and security questions, contact DOOR Support at support@door.com.

How long does setup take?

Setup time varies by platform. Each PMS has its own process:

  • AppFolio — activation is self-serve through the AppFolio Stack™ marketplace.
  • RealPage — submit an integration request via the RealPage marketplace, then email epms@door.com to notify the DOOR team.
  • Yardi — requires credential exchange (Service URL, server name, database, username, and password) and DOOR-side configuration.
  • Entrata — requires credential exchange (domain, username, and password) and DOOR-side configuration.

For questions about timeline, contact epms@door.com. For credential requirements per platform, see Setting up ePMS in DOOR OS.
