Inviting or editing people via CSV

The CSV import in DOOR OS lets you invite many residents at once instead of adding them one by one. You can also use it to update access for existing users.

About this feature

Email addresses are the primary identifier in DOOR OS. If you import a row with an email address that already exists in the system, DOOR adds the new access to the existing account rather than creating a duplicate.

If the import encounters an issue with a specific row, that row is skipped with an error message. Your CSV file can be corrected and re-uploaded — the system only processes rows that haven't been imported yet.

For ongoing automated access provisioning based on your PMS data, consider Automated Access instead of manual CSV uploads.

Steps

  1. Log in to DOOR OS.
  2. Go to PeopleInvite.
  3. Select DOOR App.
  4. Select Import CSV.
  5. Select Import.
  6. Download the CSV template to ensure your file uses the correct format and column headers.
  7. Fill in your data and save the file.
  8. Drag your CSV file into the browser window, or use the file picker to select it.
  9. Select Import CSV.
  10. Review the data preview. If there are errors, correct your CSV file and re-upload.
  11. Select Add Contacts.
  12. Add the Keys you want these residents to have access to.
    • Note: The Keys column in the CSV file is for residential door Keys. Communal door Keys should be added in this step.
  13. Optionally set a start time and expiration date for the imported residents.
  14. Review the summary and select Send.

All successfully imported residents receive the DOOR welcome email with instructions for setting up the DOOR App and using Latch devices.

Troubleshooting

  • Import fails for some rows: rows with errors are skipped. Check the error report, correct the affected rows in your CSV, and re-upload. Rows already imported will not be duplicated.
  • Resident already exists in DOOR OS: importing a row with an existing email address adds the new Key access to their existing account.
  • Need to update access for many residents at once: the same CSV import flow can update existing users. Match by email address.
