A Door Schedule automatically unlocks a door during a set time window — no credential required. During the scheduled hours, anyone can open the door without using the DOOR App, a doorcode, or a keycard. Outside those hours, normal credential access applies.
Door Schedules are designed for commercial or common spaces where walk-ins are expected: leasing offices, lobby reception areas, or property management offices.
About this feature
Door Schedule vs. Key Schedule — what's the difference:
| Door Schedule | Key Schedule | |
|---|---|---|
| What it does | Automatically unlocks the door (no credential needed during scheduled hours) | Restricts when a user's credential (app, doorcode, keycard) works |
| Applies to | Everyone — the door is physically unlocked for all | Only users assigned that specific Key |
| Common use | Leasing offices, lobbies, commercial reception | Gym access by resident category, staff hours |
Optional settings:
- First Unlock: the door does not automatically unlock at the scheduled start time until someone with access unlocks it first. Once they do, the door stays unlocked for the rest of the scheduled window.
- Early Closure: any user with access to the door can lock it before the scheduled end time — useful for teams that want to close early.
Hardware requirement: Door Schedules require at least one R2 device in the building running firmware version 4.0.1 or later. You can only apply Door Schedules to compatible devices.
Creating a door schedule
- Log in to DOOR OS.
- Go to Manage Settings → Schedules.
- Select Create Schedule.
- Enter a name for the schedule. You can apply the same schedule to multiple doors, so name it for the group (for example: "Entrances", "Amenities", "Offices").
- Optionally enable First Unlock, Early Closure, or both.
- Select Continue.
- Set the Primary Schedule:
- Choose which days the schedule applies.
- For each active day, set up to 8 time intervals when the door will be unlocked. Intervals must not overlap.
- Days with no interval set remain locked all day.
- Optionally add Exception Schedules for specific dates (holidays, events):
- An exception schedule overrides the entire primary schedule for that date.
- You can set exceptions up to one year out.
- Exception schedules do not repeat year over year — you must recreate them annually.
- Select Continue.
- Select the doors to apply this schedule to. A door can only have one schedule at a time.
- Select Complete.
After creating a schedule
For internet-connected doors (WiFi, Ethernet, Hub, or Intercom), the schedule applies automatically — allow up to 30 minutes for the sync.
For doors not connected to the internet, the schedule must be pushed manually. Stand within Bluetooth range of the device and select the door name in the DOOR App to trigger a sync. See How do I perform a Door Sync?
Troubleshooting
- Schedule does not appear to be working: confirm the door is compatible (R2 device, firmware 4.0.1+). Check whether the door has synced since the schedule was created.
- Exception schedules stopped applying: exception schedules do not roll over year to year. Recreate them each year for recurring holidays.
- You want to remove a door from a schedule: navigate to the door's page in DOOR OS and change or clear the schedule there.
