Using your DOOR Open/Close Monitor
The DOOR Open/Close Monitor is a two-piece magnetic sensor placed on a door or window. When the two pieces separate — meaning the door or window is opened — the sensor sends an alert to the DOOR App.
About this feature
The sensor consists of a main unit and a small magnet. When the magnet moves away from the main unit, the sensor registers an open event. Expected battery life is approximately 2 years.
The monitor is typically installed on windows or cabinet doors where you want to know if something is left open.
Opening the monitor controls
- Open the DOOR App and tap the Controls tab.
- Tap your Open/Close Monitor.
- Tap Open device settings.
Dashboard
The Dashboard shows the sensor's current state: Open or Closed.
Additional information visible on the Dashboard:
- Connection — Online or Offline
- Battery — Current battery percentage
- Last Updated — Most recent time the sensor reported
Settings
Alert
Choose when you want to receive a push notification:
- Don't alert — No notifications
- Door/Window is opened — Alert when the sensor separates
- Door/Window is closed — Alert when the sensor comes back together
- Door/Window is opened or closed — Alert on either event
Open reminder
Configure a reminder to alert you if the door or window remains open longer than a set period. You can also enable a continuous alarm and set its duration.
History
The History tab shows a chronological log of all open/close events and connection status changes.
If you receive a false alert
False alerts happen when the sensor pieces are misaligned — the magnet is too far from the main unit even when the door is closed. Reposition the magnet so it sits directly adjacent to the main unit when the door is fully closed.
