Using your DOOR Motion Detector

Using your DOOR Motion Detector

The DOOR Motion Detector senses movement in a room using passive infrared (PIR) technology. When motion is detected, it logs the event and — if configured — sends you an alert in the DOOR App.

About this feature

Motion detectors are used in some resident units and in common areas managed by the property. If the sensor is in a shared space, motion events may be logged by the property team rather than visible to you. Contact your property manager if you're unsure what your motion detector is configured to do.

Opening the motion detector controls

  1. Open the DOOR App and tap the Controls tab.
  2. Tap your Motion Detector.
  3. Tap Open device settings.

Dashboard

The Dashboard shows whether motion has recently been detected. A message appears here when the sensor is actively detecting motion.

Additional information visible on the Dashboard:

  • Connection — Online or Offline
  • Battery — Current battery percentage
  • Last Updated — Most recent time the sensor reported

Settings

Alert

Toggle alerts on or off. When enabled, you receive a push notification each time motion is detected.

Motion Frequency Timer

After the sensor detects motion, it waits a set period before alerting you to the next motion event. This prevents a flood of alerts if motion is continuous. Adjust the timer to match how often you want to be notified.

History

The History tab shows a chronological log of all motion events and connection status changes.
