Using the Smart Home controls in the DOOR App
The Controls section of the DOOR App is where you view and manage all the DOOR Smart Home devices in your unit. This article explains the common patterns that apply across all device types.
Accessing your smart home devices
- Open the DOOR App.
- Tap the Controls tab.
- You'll see a list of all Smart Home devices activated in your unit.
Use the filter options to show only a specific type of device (thermostats, sensors, switches, etc.).
Opening a device's controls
Tap any device in the list, then tap Open device settings. This opens a screen with three tabs:
- Dashboard — Current device status and primary controls (toggle on/off, adjust temperature, view sensor reading).
- History — A chronological log of events and setting changes for that device.
- Settings — Configuration options: device name, alert thresholds, schedules, and other device-specific settings.
Common actions across devices
| Action | Where to find it |
|---|---|
| Turn a device on or off | Dashboard → toggle |
| View device online/offline status | Dashboard → Connection |
| See the last time the device reported data | Dashboard → Last Updated |
| Set alert thresholds (sensors) | Settings → Alert |
| Set a schedule (thermostat, dimmer) | Settings → Schedules |
| Rename the device | Settings → Device Name |
Notes
- Devices that are offline show in the Controls tab but cannot be controlled until they reconnect. If a device has been offline for a while, check that the DOOR Hub is online and power-cycle the device.
- Property managers with device management permissions can also see devices across units from DOOR OS — they will not see devices you activate yourself within your unit.
- The Controls tab shows only devices associated with your unit. Shared amenity devices are managed by the property team.
